Christ Church and St John's

Mission partners

full time Christian workers in Britain and overseas

Christ Church has many members who are ambassadors for Christ and partners with us in the Good News of Jesus. Some have gone abroad to do this, and some are based in New Malden.

Would you like to be linked with any of our Mission Partners or Associates? You can help them tremendously whether by giving or by prayer or both. For more information, please contact their link person in the congregation by emailing the church office. You will recieve their prayer letter 3 or 4 times a year, and be able to pray for them, share with them and keep in touch.

All our mission workers need prayer, encouragment, friendship and a growing level of financial support. Please help us support the work of world mission. Missionary Gift envelopes and allocation slips to assist you in making your gift for mission work are available from the office. Please use a Gift Aid envelope if you are a UK taxpayer.

Guido and Linda have lived in New Malden since 2007 when they began a new job of recruitment for East Asia both for short and long-term people based in the Greater London area.

Their ministry began with eight years in Jakarta where Guido was teaching at a university and involved in student ministry. Linda was an elder in a local church, visiting families from the 1,500-strong congregation.
Following that they spent ten years on the home side of OMF International, with responsibility for candidates and public ministries.
In 2001 they returned to Asia to establish and lead the OMF team in Myanmar (Burma), and to work with the Burmese church in teaching and preaching, literature work and mercy ministries.
They have three adult children and one grandchild.

Jeremy and Rachel live in Legmoin, Burkina Faso. Their main area of work is with the Dagari speaking people - preaching, evangelising and training Church leaders. During their period of service many new Churches have been established. The Jesus Film in the Dagari language has been particularly effective as a tool in village evangelism. They have worked for Mission Africa since 1996 after spending their first year of marriage preparing for mission work and spending time in Paris learning French. They have 3 children, Katie (11), Timmy (9) and Toby (4).

Tom and Sandra*

Tom & Sandra (who is Swedish) live and work in the Arabian Peninsula. They have two children Janet (6) and John (4), who attend a local school and nursery respectively. Tom & Sandra were commissioned eight years ago at Christ Church to work amongst Arab people. They seek to share the love of Christ with local Arabs and ultimately to see a national church planted and growing in the area. Over the first 5 years they set up an Arabic language institute and, whilst Sandra continues to work part-time at the institute co-ordinating the training of local teachers, Tom has relinquished his position as director, having fulfilled his primary role. He is currently studying for an MBA. Both Tom & Sandra are fluent in the local dialect.

Mike & Chris head up the work of Navigators International with Mike as President and General Director. They are based in Colorado Springs, though they spend much of their time in other countries. Before their appointment to the International Executive, Mike and Chris spent 24 years working with Africans and lived for 16 years in Kenya. Navigators currently work in 104 countries. One continuing priority for Mike and Chris is establishing a network to bolster each country and regional team: many have been working in relative isolation, particularly in the less developed countries. They also have a major pastoral role towards other leaders. They have three adult married children..

Simon and Jo-Ann Eastwood

Simon grew up in Christ Church where he was a Pathfinder leader, and his father was a churchwarden. He joined the Jonas Trust in 2002, and is co-manager of the Centre at Redmire in Wensleydale with Aiden Webster.
The cabins at the Centre have been well used at weekends by Church groups and it is possible to accommodate groups of up to 80 people. With good bookings at weekends, emphasis is also being placed on ways of encouraging greater mid-week use by disadvantaged people in particular need of a break and to provide a resource for the local community and other users.
The trustees have considered the building of extra cabins with a new hall so that groups of about 120 could be accommodated (or two smaller groups). This needs the cooperation of the owner of the adjacent Elm House - it is hoped that he will buy some land and buildings from the Jonas Trust to help with the financing of this expansion. A formal planning application is being prepared so that this vision can become a reality.
Simon's wife, Jo-Ann also grew up at Christ Church, and teaches full-time at Leyburn Primary School where Isaac and Theo go too.
